Scripture Reading - Genesis 3:1-3 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wild animals the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, “Did God really say, ‘You must not eat from any tree in the garden’?” The woman said to the serpent, “We may eat fruit from the trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, ‘You must not eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden, and you must not touch it, or you will die.’

The story of Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden shows us the subtle ways Satan can lead us astray from the will of God. The serpent, described as clever and cunning, begins by questioning God's command in a seemingly harmless way: "Do I understand that God told you not to eat from any tree in the garden?"

In our daily lives, we encounter countless decisions where we might hear the whisper, "It's not that serious." Whether it's telling a white lie, skipping our time with God, or ignoring the nudge to pray for others, we need to remember that the enemy does not want us to take our walk as believers seriously. Satan often whispers, "It's not that serious," to make us compromise our faith and values, suggesting that living a holy and sanctified life for God isn't all that important. These minor temptations don't appear to be blatant sins but they lead us into compromise. When we are not in a consistent place of intimacy and tending for our spiritual soul, then our spirit loses its potency. We are called to be a light in the darkness but Jesus is the light shining through us, when we are not intentional about living in holiness and in intimacy with the Father, we move further away from Jesus, which dims our light.

Take time today to reflect on areas where you might be allowing small compromises to take root. Are there situations where you've justified disobedience? Pray for wisdom and strength to resist the temptations to compromise and remain steadfast in your commitment to God's commands.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, we come to You thanking You that Your word is a lamp unto our feet. Lord, reveal to us the areas where we have not walked in accordance to Your word. Give us discernment to see through these deceptions and give us the strength to stand firm in Your truth. Renew our strength and passion for You daily. May our lives shine brightly for Your glory in Jesus mighty name, Amen.
